Securing qualified labor force for energy efficiency technologies in the building industry（Strategic Alliance Building Occupation, STA-Bau）
Improvement of craftsmen’s skills in the building industry with particular reference to dual training courses on modern building technology
The aim of this project:
The training and further education of specialists in the Chinese building industry is modernized in pilot schools. New curricula in the fields of building materials, sewage treatment technology and building automation meet the industry requirements for the use of new energy-efficient building technologies.
The building sector still has one of the highest growth rates in China. Buildings account for about 30% of China’s total energy consumption. As a result of the progressive urbanization with a rising living standard, this share will continue to grow. Energy efficiency and environmentally friendly use of resources are therefore central tasks in China. Contributions to this are necessary in all areas of the building sector, from the construction process to the operation of buildings. This strongly depends on the knowledge and skills of expert craftsmen and management personnel. Contributions to energy savings are possible through the professional use of
– modern building materials and building elements,
– energy-saving building technology and
– environmentally friendly sewage technology.
In order to achieve the energy efficiency goals of the Chinese government set out in the Green Building Action Plan, it is necessary to introduce new and innovative technologies, new building materials and procedures. Construction personnel and specialists need to get familiar with those new technologies, use building materials in a professional and quality-oriented manner. For this, the curricula for vocational school graduates will be developed to provide the necessary knowledge to correctly use modern building materials to achieve the potential energy-efficiency. Training in the building industry still mostly focusses on theory. Following the German dual education method, the modern curricula will be underpinned by practical exercises, so that the graduates can also practice the use of modern building materials professionally.
The project supports three Chinese vocational schools as pilot projects in the modernization of their curricula, development of dual training concepts and conducting qualification measures for their teachers.
The results of the project are made available and are disseminated through public actors. This may include particularly the Ministry of Housing, Urban and Rural Development (MoHURD) at the national level as well as institutions in the region, which are responsible for vocational training in the building industry. In addition, professional exchanges and targeted discussion are supported by workshops, information events, seminars and the dissemination of project results in electronic media.
The primary target groups are teachers at construction colleges at the provincial level. The ultimate aim of the project is to improve the technical knowledge and skills of young people, to increase their chances in the labor market.

– Planning offices, architects, builders and project promoters / investors who are responsible for the design and realization of specific building projects

Building materials and components manufacturers:
Baumit Building Material (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Baumit Beteiligungen GmbH as well as a sister company of the German Baumit GmbH. The company produces and processes advanced plaster systems, in particular heat insulation. It is one of the market leaders in Germany and Europe for factory-made dry mortars, tile laying products and thermal insulation composite systems.
Shanghai Hengzhi Construction Co., Ltd. is a Shanghai-based Chinese building company specializing in the processing of facade insulation and facade design as well as waterproofing of the building envelope. The privately-owned company, founded in 2007, is now regarded as one of the market leaders for high-quality facade work in the Shanghai area. Its products range from thermal insulation composite systems, prefabricated facade elements to facade paints and plasters.
Electronic equipment and building automation:
DRECHSLERtechnik GmbH is a manufacturer of energy-efficient process engineering systems, heat transfer systems, pump systems, cooling systems and drinking water systems. The product range of DRECHSLERtechnik GmbH ranges from pressure elevation and drinking water systems to refrigeration and district heating systems to complex building automation technology.
Bau msr GmbH is a manufacturer of building automation and industrial systems, switchgear cabinets, power plant construction, power management systems, energy efficiency technologies. Bau msr GmbH’s business field includes the planning, sales and installation of building control systems, remote control and monitoring systems for ventilation and air conditioning, heating technology, and other building automation requirements for energy conservation.
Environmentally compatible sewage system technology:
Tubus GmbH specializes in the management of environmentally friendly water, wastewater and sewage systems. The core competences of the company lie in the pipe and sewer rehabilitation. The special requirements of the growth market of canal rehabilitation are met.
The company Bauverfugung Werner has now expanded its field of activity to the areas of asphalt reprocessing, corrosion protection for supply and transmission lines as well as sealing in road, tunnel, sewer and sewage plant construction. Bauverfugung Werner is active in both the construction and preservation of existing buildings. The company offers engineering solutions in sewage treatment plants, sluices, swimming pools, tunneling and prefabricated structures. Further applications are in bridge construction (cap and center joints) and in concrete surface joints.
